Course Description

For some nannies looking for a convenient distance learning course, our 1-2-1 personalised online Common Core training is the flexible first step of their learner journey towards professional development. Our online Common Core training course fulfills Ofsted registration requirements for:

• unqualified nannies who need induction training
• qualified nannies who need to update their Common Core skills

As well as covering essential skills and knowledge required by Ofsted for working with children (known as the Common Core of Skills and Knowledge for the Children’s Workforce), our course has been made more relevant for nannies by focusing on key skills to help nannies to prepare for providing a childcare service in the family’s own home.

Course Content

Our online Common Core training is based on the CACHE Level 3 optional unit, Understand how to set up a Home-Based Childcare Service, which has been mapped to the Common Core with a specific focus on skills for nannies. The course content covers vital skills for nannies such as communication with parents, promoting positive behaviour and safeguarding children. This online Common Core also covers essential Health & Safety knowledge and skills which are not covered in our 1 day Common Core course.

Delivery & Support

The course is delivered as a 1-2-1 personalised online home study course so you can work through the course independently at your own pace while receiving regular individualised support from your tutor.

The online delivery includes a portfolio of evidence (online coursework)

• Provides you with the knowledge required for the course
• Stores your assignments for you and your personal 1-2-1 tutor to access
• Tracks your progress and gives you an indication of your anticipated completion
• Choice of communication between learner and tutor (assessor) via email and telephone

Duration

Depending on the time you can commit to studying, this course can be completed in 3 weeks – 3 months.

Assessment & Progression

As the home-based childcare course is a knowledge based unit, most of the tasks are written assignments. Assessment can also include the following methods:

• Case studies
• Oral questioning

Completion of this course is worth 17 Progress Points (85%) of the CACHE Understand how to set up a home-based childcare service so you might as well complete the remaining 15% of the CACHE course to achieve 4 credits.
